Here I am at 39+ weeks. I was so ready for this baby to be born. I couldn't wait to meet her, and I didn't think my belly could possibly get any bigger. Bending over was nearly impossible. :) I was scheduled for a c-section on Tuesday morning (it was supposed to be Saturday, Feb 14 but got rescheduled due to the holiday weekend). So, I tried to patiently wait for Tuesday morning and the closer it got... the bigger the snowstorm grew in the weather forecast. We were supposed to have at least 6 inches of snow on Tuesday morning. Lovely...
Imagine my surprise when I awoke around 1145pm to a odd kicking sensation. I decided to make one of my many treks to the bathroom, business as usual. However, on my way back to bed I checked the weather situation outside... there was a good 4-5 inches of snow already, I knew the morning would be a mess at 6am when we were supposed to arrive. As I walked back to my bed... POP... my water broke. There was no question about it. I woke Ike up and told him, he was so asleep he wasn't processing. I repeated myself adding "I'M SERIOUS!"
After a quick shower, grabbing our bags and cleaning off the 5 inches of snow from the car, we headed to the hospital. This really felt like it was straight out of a movie. Luckily since it was planned for that morning anyway my parents were already at our house to care for the big siblings.
I am literally in shock walking to the car. It all felt so surreal. I was having contractions about every 2-3 minutes apart but they were fairly mild on the drive to the hospital.
I was still smiling when we arrived at the hospital around 1230am. However, the smile did not last long as the contractions got super intense, super fast. I could not wait for them to get me to the OR and give me the spinal... I may have said a few ugly words and I certainly don't remember much once they got me all hooked up to the IV. I was in so much pain so quickly, it all seems like a blur.
The c-section went as expected, she cried right away which is the sweetest sound and such a relief. The nurses took her to clean her off and weigh her. I over heard one of the nurses ask if they needed the glucometer to test her blood sugar. From my labor and delivery nursing days I knew that meant she was either really big, or really small. Then I heard another one say, "I think we are good... but she does have some thunder thighs!" I asked how big she was and was utterly shocked when they said 8lbs 7oz.
My precious baby girl. Elizabeth Arlyn Stutts born February, 17, 2015 and 3:03am. 8lbs 7oz and 19.5 inches.
I was exhausted, mostly numb, and shaking uncontrollably but I could not wait to get my hands on her.
We got settled in our room and got a little bit of rest. In the morning we couldn't wait for the kids to come and meet her. Of course they had no school due to the snow.
I think this face says it all. I cannot count how many times she has asked me when she would finally be born. She was so excited.
Big brother was pretty excited too, although he wouldn't want anyone to know it. :)
Here is our first picture as a family of 5.

Is she storing something in those cheeks?
We came home on Thursday, Feb 19 which also happened to be Daddy's birthday. We introduced Elizabeth to Lucy.
Nana and Papa were here too, just for the day to meet baby girl.
Nana and Papa.
Once everyone left and Mason had her alone he wanted to hold her. He really loves her.
And this is how we spent the first week or so. Snuggling and sleeping. I love being a Mommy!
