I Love Kailua

There is a "Town Party" every year in Kailua that features local vendors and restaurants and has stuff for the kids to do. It happened to be this Sunday, and even though Ike was out of town again I decided to venture out on my own. It was right in the main shopping area of Kailua which is an easy walk so off we went doused in sunscreen. Oh wait.... that's right. The KIDS were loaded with sunscreen and as usual I got none for myself. Let's just say I am finally (unintentionally) looking like I live in Hawaii. Aside from a little sunburn we had a great time. Since I was flying solo I really didn't take many pics but here are a few that I did take. Our adventure went well except for one minor hiccup... I forgot Mason's pacifier. He is not extremely attached so usually it's not a big deal but this was right around his nap time and he desperately wanted to fall asleep in the stroller. He got a little fussy so I ran into the grocery store, bought a 2 pack of pacifiers, stuck one in his mouth before I even paid for them and he was asleep in about 3 minutes. PROBLEM SOLVED! :)
Julianna wanted to go talk to "Chip" and "Cookie."

She even went in for the hug.

After some pizza and a shave ice we headed to the kids area. She bounced in the Sesame Street bouncy house for a while...

Then she saw the HUGE shark slide. It was so big I didn't think she would actually go by herself. Most of the younger kids were going with an adult but since I had Mason (and was wearing a dress) she was either going alone or not going. She decided to go for it... TWICE!

Ballet Class

Julianna had her very first ballet class last week and has NOT stopped talking it about it since. On the day of her class we didn't have any ballet attire yet. I wanted to see if she liked the class before we went to buy stuff. Needless to say we went to Target that afternoon for the outfits. She came home, put it on and slept in it that night. She showed up in my room around 6am the next morning demanding to go to her ballet class! haha She has not stopped asking if it's time for class. Unfortunately for her (and me) it's only once a week!

(Julianna is on the far Right)

The teacher is fabulous and hilarious. She is so good with the kids and says the funniest stuff to get them to do what she wants them to do.

Julianna cracks me up in this one. She was really in to her twirling. When the teacher says "freeze" they were supposed to stop or she would tickle them.
I can't believe it took us this long to sign her up for a dance class. She is IN LOVE!

Caution: People In Pictures ARE As Pale As They Appear

We had THE MOST fun today at the beach. Mason is all over the place these days so the beach can be a difficult place to play. Today I had to let go of my impulsions to try to keep him clean and just go with it. He sure did enjoy himself, and after I got over the fact that you can't keep a kid from eating sand I enjoyed myself too. If a picture is worth 1,000 words, then here's about 15,000 words.

2/3

What can I say... I have THE CUTEST son in the entire world. I guess I am a LITTLE bit biased. ;) Big man is 8 months old today, I CAN'T believe it. The month of April has been a big one for milestones. He learned to crawl, feed himself finger foods, pull up on everything, and now his first tooth! Here are some pics from the last 10 days or so.
This picture was actually taken today on his 8 month birthday. If you look really, really hard, you can see the little white tooth poking out on the bottom left. What a smile!

And here he is showing off his standing skills.

Me and my buddy at our favorite restaurant in town. Yummy crepes!

I am such a happy boy!

He also loves the beach. Doesn't he look right at home?

Swinging in the big swing with Mommy at the park in Lanikai.

He is happy to be out and about and likes riding in the stroller.

Daddy picked out these cool shorts. By the smile on Mason's face he really likes them too. Or maybe it's the Hopkins lacrosse shirt. ha

He's definitely outgrown the baby bathtub. That's a lot of baby fat rolls for one little tub. Check out that thigh!

So, we've moved on to the big tub with Sissy. It's way more fun in there anyway.

Getting a picture of him sitting still is getting harder and harder these days.

See you guys... I'm blowin' this popsicle stand!

Washington DC

What a day in DC!!! I mean.... what a HOT day in DC. The day we walked around it was 97 degrees which as you can imagine was unseasonably hot for early April. Don't get me wrong, it gets really hot in the summer there, but no one was expecting it this early in the year. It was absolutely beautiful but boy were we all sweaty and sun burned. I definitely had more of a tan when I left than I brought with me from Hawaii!
