Birthday/Golf Weekend

I loved spending my birthday with this guy. I love my husband so much. He is more than I could have ever dreamed about as a little girl. I am blessed to have such a wonderful man in my life.

Of course I was super excited to be with this little chicken too. She makes me laugh so hard. My birthday would never have been complete without her singing Happy Birthday to me.

The rest of our weekend was spent at the Decatur Country Club. Jennie Marie and I spent a lot of time at the pool with the girls and occasionally followed the guys around to see how they were playing. Trick question: How many people are on this golf cart? :)

The golfers. They won 1st in their flight. Great job guys!

And here is the Olympic swimmer.... Julianna did great with her ear plugs and headband to hold them in. This was our first pool adventure after getting the tubes put in. No problem!
Thank you everyone for a wonderful birthday weekend.

Music to my ears :)

I had a wonderful birthday today. It started off with Julianna waking me up with a sweet kiss this morning. Then I headed to get a 90 minute massage. G-L-O-R-I-O-U-S!!! Then we drove over to Decatur to see Ike's family. We had fun watching the cousins play together then ate a delicious birthday dinner and cake. I am full and tired. Thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes today. I am truly blessed. :)

What a pain in the... ear!

This little sweet patootie had her ear tubes put in today. The procedure went well. She did have fluid in both ears and the doctor said it was pretty thick and nasty. She was also starting an infection again in her left ear so we got this done just in time. She was such a trooper, as always, waiting to go in and in pre-op. After giving Daddy and I a kiss goodbye she walked back to the operating room holding the nurses hand. I am always amazed how well she does in strange situations like this.
However, the recovery room was not as pleasant as the pre-op area. She was MISERABLE. She was very combative, swinging and screaming at everyone. This was not the little girl I knew and I was really taken aback. It was really hard for me to see her this way. She was so confused and out of sorts. I let my emotions (and hormones) get the best of me at one point and lost it for a few minutes. After an hour or so of this crazy behavior we were home and she finally started to come out of it. It was like all of a sudden the medication wore off and she was back. It was such a relief. Her appetite came back too. She scarfed down one grilled cheese and then requested another one. She finished the 2nd one and requested a 3rd. We gave her fruit instead of a 3rd sandwich and that satisfied her just fine.
The rest of the afternoon was pretty much business as usual. I am glad it is over and hope that it is making her feel better. Thank you for all of your prayers and thoughts. We sure do love our little girl.

It's my party... I'll be CRABBY if I want to!

Now THAT's what I'm talkin' 'bout! :) Last summer I complained because, probably for the first time in my entire life, I didn't get ONE steamed crab. Ike took care of that this year for an early birthday party surprise!

Look at all of that deliciousness just waiting to be covered in vinegar and Old Bay!

I, of course, used the party as an excuse to make cupcakes for myself. :) hehe

We got it all set up and ready. Food and beer for the adults. Slip-n-slide and pool for the kids.

She got in the spirit in her crab bathing suit.

I got to debut my unintentional short haircut. No, I don't like it and it is not how I intended for her to cut it... but it's hair. Hopefully it will grow quickly.

We started to dig in. I gave a quick crab pickin' lesson to those who didn't know how or hadn't done it in a while.

The kiddos hung out by the pool and just looked cute.

Until the cupcakes came out. Suddenly they were all very interested in sitting at the table to eat them.

This pretty much sums it up. We had a BLAST.

Thank you, Ike, for setting all of this up for me. I loved it and loved hanging out with everyone. It settled my crab cravings for the summer. I LOVE YOU! You're the best. And thanks for everyone for coming over. Hope you had as much fun as I did! :)

PS. Please pray for Julianna. She gets the tubes put in her ears tomorrow morning at 930am. Please pray for a smooth procedure and super quick recovery!

What were we thinking??

I have no idea what we were thinking but we did have fun anyway. We went to the zoo on a 100 degree day. 3 pregnant moms and 3 toddlers and lots of hot animals. We actually lasted alot longer than I thought we would. My membership expired today so we decided we would have one last hurrah for free!

This is a look of complete surprise that I would actually take her to the zoo on a day as hot as today. I am NOT a happy camper in hot weather.... forget being pregnant.

The 3 kiddos checking out the animals!

The tigers are hot... one is swimming.

Julianna and Joey looking cute.

Who's belly is bigger?? I think he's got us beat. Stacey is due in just a couple of weeks.

Panda was sleeping in the AC.

This one too. Trying to keep cool.

Sitting in "the bubble" watching the sea lions swim by.

And the bears. Julianna has a wedgie. But she has a cute hiney so that's ok. :)

The little ones were beginning to melt and the moms were beginning to have a melt-down. We headed home shortly after this picture.
The best part about the day was the 2.5 hour nap that happened when we got home. Thank God for AC! :)

Happy Father's Day and a Great Weekend!

This little girl LOVES her Daddy. I do too. We both think you are pretty great, Ike. Happy Father's Day!! Can't wait for our 2nd little one to join the party. Thank you for all that you do for us. You're the best Daddy around! :)

Do you like the matching shorts and dress?!? I thought they looked PRETTY CUTE together.

I had a pretty good weekend myself. Ike took Julianna to see his Dad and family Friday and Saturday so I had a little girl time. Stacey is due in just a couple of weeks so we wanted to pamper ourselves one last time before all of these babies started arriving.

After we spoiled ourselves with pedicures we headed to a sushi restaurant to eat. Funny that you're not supposed to eat sushi while you are pregnant... we all had COOKED sushi. haha California rolls all around! I even squeezed in a movie on Friday night. It was a very relaxing weekend which is always welcome. Thanks girls for the fun and I hope everyone enjoyed their Father's Day weekend.

PS. I didn't get to see my Dad this weekend but I wanted to say I LOVE YOU. I am so glad you are my Daddy. Can't wait to see you soon.

28 weeks

Well, here "we" are at 28 weeks. I can't believe we are already into the 3rd trimester. Time is going by so quickly. I am feeling good but the weather is starting to get the best of me. It was a steamy 95 degrees today and felt like 110. We had a picnic at the park under a tree which was bearable, but we only survived on the hot playground for about 10 minutes. She was sweating and I felt like cussing. Home we went to the luxury of air conditioning.

My sweet girl. I just love her so much and it does make me feel a little guilty that her life is about to be turned upside down. As much as I would love for her to be the center of my world for the rest of our lives, I hope she won't mind sharing that spot with little brother. I know it will be a big change for all of us but I am excited for it to happen. Since #2 is a boy I can still say that she is my FAVORITE daughter and my best little girlfriend in the whole wide world. When I rocked her to sleep at nap time today I almost cried. She has gotten so big and really is not my "baby" anymore. But there she was, asleep in my arms, just like the day she was born. Where did the time go?

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

The Wizard of Oz is Julianna's favorite movie to watch. Ever since we saw the play in March she has been obsessed with it. I have a longer version but it is too long to post. I love listening to her sing.

Siblings Class

On Saturday Julianna had her Sibling class at the hospital. I had no idea how much fun it would actually be. She LOVED IT! Ike and I really enjoyed ourselves too.

Here are all of the practice babies lined up.

This is little brother. They were gender specific... it actually was a boy if you know what I'm sayin'. haha

This is "Baby Huey." He was the puppet that taught the kids a lot about what babies like and need. He was Julianna's favorite part of the class I think. She thought he was hilarious.

Practicing changing diapers.

Just a little help from Mommy to get the tabs just right.

Decorating a picture for brother. They taught them that Black and White are newborns favorite colors because they are the easiest for them to see.

The babies AFTER the kids got to play with them. We also got to go up to the nursery and look at a few REAL babies through the window. All of the siblings were really excited about seeing a real baby. I knew it before... but after the class I am even more convinced that Julianna is going to be the BEST BIG SISTER! I am so proud of her. I can't wait to see her with baby brother.

Always behind....

This little cutie sure does keep us busy!!!

We've been playing outside with our friends.

Bubbles are a lot of FUN!

On Saturday morning we went to see Bob the Builder Live at the Orpheum Theater downtown.

We had great seats and Julianna really enjoyed herself. Ike and I were also THRILLED (when it ended! hahahaha)

After the show we had a lunch date.

And entertained all of the other people eating on the patio.

Today, however, we haven't had as much fun. We had a doctor's appointment to get Julianna's ears checked out again. Unfortunately, she still has fluid in her ears and will have to have tubes put in. We don't have a surgery date yet but it will be soon.

She was very good at the doctor's office. We decided to meet our friend Savannah for lunch at the mall. Julianna tried to be helpful and shut the car door for me. Unfortunately, it was locked and my purse and keys were still inside. Luckily I had my cell phone in my hand so I was able to call for Ike to come unlock the door. He was "busy" playing golf and didn't get the message for over an hour. At least we were at the mall and were entertained. I just had no money to buy anything!!!! We finally made it home just in time for a nap! What a day!!!

Swimming and Kittens (not swimming kittens)

Julianna and I were invited to come swimming at Ms. Kristi's house (her preschool teacher) this summer. Today we graciously accepted. Julianna was a little shy when we got there but it didn't take long for her to warm up to the pool. She loved playing with Emily, Kristi's daughter, and Emily is very sweet to Julianna.

Kristi's cat just had kittens 4 weeks ago so we got to play with them too. What a day!

This is Bradley and the kitten he named "Blueberry."

This little kitty was a little clingy and found a nice place to snuggle! ha

Sweet kittens with the Mama cat. There were 5 kittens and they all looked different.

We had a really great day today. We started off with Bible study then had lunch with a friend. We came home and took naps (with no argument) and when we woke up we headed straight to Kristi's house. I kept thinking bed time would be a disaster because we don't usually have a whole day that goes smoothly. I was wrong!!! Bedtime wasn't difficult either. I love days like this.
Update on Baby Boy... we got to peek in at him yesterday and he is doing great. I have been having lots of contractions again this time (just like with Julianna) and went in to get checked out just to be sure everything was ok. Everything was fine for now and we were so excited to get to see him again. We were not expecting to do that!!! They estimated him to weigh 2lbs 2oz and he was still a boy. haha
